• They are water-based, chunky paint sticks that contain solid poster paint and are used as an alternative to tubes of paint, jars of water and paint brushes. 

• The Silkys are made with poster paint and the gouache are made with gouache paint. An easy way to split them is to say: our Silky Paint Stix are perfect for young kids, and our Gouache Stix are made for our older kids and adults.

• Poster paint is a general term for opaque and water-soluble paints that are usually less expensive than paints such as watercolour and gouache. Poster colors are highly opaque. Like gouache, they work well on both white and toned paper. 

• Just uncap, twist the bottom and use the stick! When you are done, remember to put the cap back on so the paint doesn't dry completely.
